Election Race comes to Barleylands!
With the countdown to the general election in full swing, our woolly jumpers have been in training with their own election races. Dyed bright party colours, the ovine athletes took to the Lamb National track to battle it out for the majority, ahead of their Animal Antics Weekend appearances.
With natural dyes popular with celebrities including Katy Perry and Rihanna, the sheep have been coloured with new ‘wool dos’. In bright purple there’ll be ‘Ewe-kip’, in crimson ‘Lay-Baa’, ‘Liberwool Democrats’ in yellow, ‘Conshearvatives’ in blue, and sporting green will be ‘Baa Baa Green Sheep’.
As they took to the track they had to tackle jumps including ‘Immigration’, ‘NHS’ and ‘Education’ – but did any of the parties representatives stumble? And who won the race?
Said Farm Park Manager Dave Finkle “Our woolly jumpers were back in training with this very special political race where they tackled the major issues around the race course! Maybe we’ll even predict the outcome of the real thing. The sheep races are always a big hit for the farm park and this special election race will get them racing fit for Animal Antics weekend which signals the start of the racing season through to Autumn. We couldn’t resist getting a bit topical!”
Animal Antics Weekend runs from 2nd to 4th May and not only sees return of the Lamb National but also brand new Hilly Billy Goat Races, plus sheep shearing demonstrations, birds of prey displays and interactive reptile sessions. Click here for more info and to save 10% on tickets.
