Children today will often be given toys or clothes outside of special occasions such as Birthdays. There’s a lot of pressure on parents to keep up with new trends… think Halloween “boo boxes”!
However, when you think back to School Holidays, we often remember a treat or something that we really looked forward to that was kept especially for a Half Term.. parents that grew up in the ‘80s and ‘90s will more than likely think of the latest film that was released on VHS for example.
Here in The Village, we have a few of those Shops that spark that nostalgic feeling of “the unexpected purchase”, the item that you’ve unexpectedly been surprised with or you’ve found the thing you didn’t know you were looking for… you hear the words “pocket-money”. Or if you’re really lucky “just because it’s a School Holiday!”.
Take a look at these 3 (not so hidden) gems… we bet that it won’t just be the kids wanting to use their pocket money;
- Studio 38: Miso Retro Games, take a look at what’s on offer over on their Instagram and pay a visit to this wonderfully retro store: @miso_retro_games. You can find Miso Retro Games as you walk through the main entrance of Barleylands and head in the direction of the Farm Park, just opposite Leigh’s cheese truck.
- Studio 47: The Sporting Souvenir Shop, something for all football and sports fans, is it a shirt, a dressing gown, a mug or something inbetween that you didn’t know you were looking for? You can find The Sporting Souvenir Shop on the Upper Level in The Village, head towards the green, take the steps and head through the door immediately on your left, you will find the Shop through the corridor.
- Studio 61: Offworld Outpost, heaven for anyone looking to build their next Lego masterpiece or collect Pokémon cards. Take a look on their socials for inspiration. The Shop is almost the first thing you see as you walk through the main entrance of Barleylands, look for the Shop on the left hand side before you get into the main area of The Village.
Enjoy the rest of your Half Term!
