Essex’s Philpot and Wilkin farming families came together on the 6th July to celebrate the opening of the new Tiptree Tea Room at Barleylands.
Both delighted to be working together, Chris Philpot (the chairman of Barleylands) and Peter Wilkin (the newly retired Chairman of Tiptree) cut a ribbon to officially open the new venture and all attendees were treated to a tour of Barleylands and a delicious Tiptree Afternoon Tea.
Attendees, including local tourism organisations and Tiptree Staff, also had one last opportunity to see the renowned Cream Tea Tennis skirt, created for this year’s National Cream Tea Day in June. The Cream Tea Tennis Skirt was launched for the National Cream Tea Day on Friday 24th June 2016. Created by Alice Waters, a student at London College of Fashion, it was unveiled on Centre Court at Queen’s Tennis Club.
Said Chris Philpot “We are so excited to have a TipTree Tea Room onsite at Barleylands and I was delighted today to be able to officially open the Tea Room with Peter Wilkin. It was great to see so many people here today and share with them our new improved catering offering. ”
